Giddy Jumper

I started a new project on the 7th using some of my stash of lovely hand-dyed yarn, most of which was gifted to me by my daughter. I spent a very long time trying to decide what to make with it, but eventually settled on the Confetti DK Pullover Adult by Nomad Stitches. I’ve called it my Giddy Jumper because one of my favourite colours I’m going to use in it is from Giddy Yarns, it’s the final advent skein which is a full 100g skein of “Ho ho ho … Happy Hogswatch”. It’s going to be a while until this colour appears though.

Here’s my progress so far:

7th January – finished the rib for the neck and the first couple of short rows to raise the neckline at the back

9th January – finished the short rows and the first all-the-way-around row

9th January – view of the back showing how the back has a bunch more rows than the front, lifting up the neckline at the back

10th January – reached the start of the first colour transition, you can barely see it but there is a new colour coming in – the pattern helps you to transition without sudden changes, so you do a row of the new colour, couple rows of old colour, another new, etc for a bunch of rows, before continuing in the new colour

Enjoying this so far after a wobbly moment when I got really cross with myself and the pattern, and later realised I just hadn’t done the right number of rows! It was not the pattern at all, just me!

I do want to do a slight tweak to the neck rib though, my fault entirely as I decided to do back loop single crochets (US terms) instead of back loop slip stitches as the pattern said, and it means it’s a bit loose at the top. I’m thinking of doing a row of single crochet 2 togethers or slip stitches around the edge to tighten it up a bit once I’ve fully moved on from the first colour.
