Sunday Crochet Update 20/4/25

This week I’ve been mainly playing around with Tunisian Crochet. I was looking at that yarn I picked up in The Range and thought it would suit a smaller stitch better so I frogged the little bit that I had done and started trying Tunisian instead. I found a free pattern (Lamia Wrap by Toni Lipsey) for a wrap/shawl that used 2 different Tunisian stitches, and then went off in my own way adding some different stitches. This is how it looks so far:

Progress so far – from right to left (as that’s the order of how it’s created): honeycomb (TSS & TPS), TSS, TKS, TPS

It starts with a honeycomb strip over on the right, which is a combination of Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS) and Tunisian Perl Stitch (TPS). You alternate between the two and it creates a honeycomb texture. Then we have a strip of just TSS. The pattern continued from there with just the honeycomb strip and then all TSS, increasing each row to a point and then decreasing again. I decided I wanted to try some Tunisian Knit Stitch (TKS) in there too, so I started a strip of that and the most recent addition (top left corner) is a strip of just TPS.

TSS on the left and honeycomb (TSS & TPS) on the right

I am considering going back to what the pattern actually said, as the TKS really makes it curl over (as you can see in the first photo), and I have realised that several rows ago I made a quite glaring error:

Oops

See in the middle there where it all goes a little askew? Seems kind of appropriate this happened on a block of Tunisian Knit Stitch as this is the kind of thing that happens when I try actual knitting! 😀 Not 100% sure yet whether to take out the TKS all together or just go back to the error and fix it… I’m not convinced about the TPS stripe either as it’s not the prettiest. Maybe I’ll go exploring and find some other different Tunisian stitches, who knows… Anyway, I’m having fun with it, which is the main thing 🙂

In other news we’re going to Wonderwool Wales next weekend so there will almost definitely be some gorgeous hand-dyed yarn to share with you next Sunday!
