This week I’ve been experimenting with Tunisian Crochet and starting to make my first item from my Wonderwool Wales haul.
I wanted to understand how Tunisian crochet worked in the round, so found a free pattern for a square to try it out on TL Yarn Crafts. This is where my Tunisian double ended hook & cable comes in. You do the sides one at a time with the forward pass from one ball of yarn and the return pass with another ball. I used yarn that happened to be nearby when I was looking at this – a colour changing yarn for forward, and a plain white for return, and I like how the white becomes the background for the coloured yarn. So you pick up the loops until you get to the corner then slide your work to the other end of the double header hook and do the return pass, then slide back the other way to do the next side, and so on. Apologies if that doesn’t entirely make sense – give it a go if you’re interested and all will become clear! 🙂 My test square is not the neatest and is a little wonky, but it was just for me to understand how it works. I’d quite like to create something using this technique, but not sure what yet.
Since we got home from Wonderwool Wales last week I’ve been contemplating what to make with my lovely new yarn! I caked it all up on Sunday evening ready to use:
And finally I settled on a pattern for the 4 Perran Yarns cakes (the 4 in the centre). I’m making what I’m calling my Perran Ripple Tee. I’m using MissBackxels 3 in 1 chevron set as the basis. I’m nearly at the arm split already. The yarn is nice to work with and with a 6mm hook it’s nice and light and airy which is just what I was hoping for.
In other news I have finished another jigsaw this week. This one was quite hard work but very satisfying to finish.
And I immediately started another one, I seem to be developing a jigsaw addiction!

Oh my gosh! I’ve just done the tunisian in a round as well, that’s so fun! Your’s looks amazing! Also your Perran Ripple Tee is looking really great so far! Can’t ait to see the rest.
