Sunday Crochet (& Jigsaw) Update 25/5/25

This week I haven’t made much progress with my Perran Ripple tee, but there have been a few more rows added.

The reason for the lack of progress above is that I’ve started yet another project with that lovely bargain yarn I bought from The Woolly Tangle. I found a nice Tunisian crochet cardi on Ravelry and it felt like it really suited the colour and I’m calling it my Clear Skies Cardi after the name of the yarn colour. The pattern is Intemporel by Rachel Henri. It uses mostly modified Tunisian Knit Stitch, which is a little slower than normal knit stich but seems to make it less curly and lighter weight. It took me a little while to get into the rhythm of it, but it’s easier now. Tunisian always takes longer than regular crochet as you are doing double the work for a single row – you go all the way along picking up loops which takes about the same time as a row of single crochets (DC in UK terms), but then you have to do the return pass pulling through 2 all the way back, which is again about the same as a row of SCs. I do wonder at my own decision making as this is going to take a LONG time, but it is very nice to work on and looks really nice, so hopefully I will manage to keep going and finish this at some point this year!

This is how it will be positioned to wear

This week has been pretty tiring and I was really running out of steam by Friday. This affected my crochet, as my brain could only deal with something simple. So I decided to start a basic blanket using some yarn I had to hand. It’s just a solid granny square and I can just go round and round without thinking, so it’s a great chill project. Depending on how far it goes it could be a baby blanket or a full sized adult blanket, we shall see. And yes, I am aware that my list of WIPs (works in progress) is getting rather long now, but that’s just the way it is!

The Tunisian tee I was making with the Cygnet yarn has been left languishing this week with no progress as the new Tunisian project has taken over! And I didn’t get anywhere with creating my bat soap saver idea. But I did whip up a new soap saver, while sat outside in the sun last weekend. It’s similar to the original one, although turned out a bit bigger, and will keep me going for now.

And finally, I just finished my first Wasgij Destiny puzzle this morning. It started off well, then got rather slow in the middle and speeded up at the end! It’s funny when you’ve got no picture you can entirely miss that there is another person in a gap for ages! I had no idea the lady in the gold dress was there for quite a while! Proud of myself for finishing it 🙂
