Well, Happy New Year readers!
I didn’t stay up, but here’s a morning ‘cheers’ / ‘iechyd da’ with a nice glass of Appletiser!
Hope those of you who partied last night had lots of fun and aren’t feeling too fragile today! I was as usual fast asleep by about 10:30 at the latest, so I’m quite perky 🙂

Today I’ve been thinking about the year ahead, and some of the crochet-related things I’d like to do this year. I don’t really like New Year’s Resolutions as they can make you feel pressured, and often fail, leaving you feeling bad. But I do like having a think about what I’d like to achieve, if I can, with no pressure on myself to succeed.
I have some WIPs (Work in Progress) that I’d like to finish, maybe at least one of them anyway. This is not all of them, there are a lot of unfinished projects lurking among my stash! I’ve picked 4 that I would like to try and aim to complete, and ones where I actually know what yarn I was using and where it is!
Alpaca Diamonds Jumper
This one is made from the loveliest hand-dyed yarn from Penrhallt Alpacas made of Alpaca, Cashmere and Silk and this is my 3rd attempt to make a jumper out of it! I tried to make Bokabay by Elena Fedotova but I was running out of yarn and had loads left to do, so I frogged it back. Hard work with Alpaca! Also had a go at a ripple jumper pattern, but it was a terrible pattern so I gave up! I ended up remembering that I’d used this Diamonds not Pearls pattern before (by Abbeymade) and realised this would suit it well. It’s Tunisian Entrelac so quite a different sort of crochet from what I usually do. I really want to actually finish something with this gorgeous yarn, so hopefully I’ll manage that this year.
Daisy Granny Cardi
I started this one quite a while ago, and was really in the zone for a while making all the squares. But I never did get it finished. I need to make more squares for the sleeves, do edging, and sew in about a million ends. Not seeming that appealing right now but it would be nice to finish. Not sure if the flowers are a bit too 3d for a cardi though… The layout I’ve come up with myself and the granny square pattern is ‘Daisy’ from ‘100 Bright & Colourful Granny Squares to Mix and Match‘ by Leonie Morgan. The yarn is Hayfield Bonus DK with the colour scheme inspired by a blanket from emkatcrochet.

Yet Another Hexy
I have made a lot of Hexy cardis! This one is using James C Brett Shh. It’s one of my ‘make it up as I go along’ hexys, so no pattern to link to. This yarn is lovely and soft and such cute pastel colours. I really should finish it!
Waves of Love Cardi
This one is using the Waves of Love Cardigan pattern by Adriana M. and it doesn’t look like I got very far at all. It’s a really interesting style so I would like to see if I can get some more done. It’s using aran yarn from Lidl – Crelando Nicole.
So there we have it, four of the many unfinished items that I’d like to finish. Maybe this time next year I’ll be proudly sharing the finished creations… but don’t hold your breath, I will probably get distracted by something new!
