This week has had some crochet-related ups and downs…
The Conch Shell bag I shared last week is now finished and looks very cool as hoped 🙂
I’ve been doing some learning this week – investigating some Tunisian Crochet stitches. I’ve learnt how to do Tunisian Lace, and I did also try Tunisian Star stitch but forgot to take a photo!
I recently bought some beautiful mini skeins from Wild Purl Yarns after seeing them on Instagram and loving the colours. They are just as pretty in real life, and are lovely and soft.
Because I only have the 60g (3 20g minis) I can’t make anything big and came up with the idea of doing a skinny scarf that would be worn for decoration rather than warmth! So I’ve given it a go with my newly learnt Tunisian Lace stitch. It’s really pretty but the only thing is that it’s leaning to the right. Looks like I’m pulling too much when switching colours. So now I am dithering between carrying on and assuming it won’t be noticeable when worn… or frogging it back and starting again, or even doing something else with it. Anyway, it’s lovely yarn to work with and is very pretty so it’s no great hardship if I start again!
As I was learning a new Tunisian stitch I started to wonder if it might be something I could incorporate in my Clear Skies Cardi, as that is also Tunisian, but very slow work. The lacy stitch is faster as well as being so pretty. So I did a little experiment and added a few short rows of lace to the bottom of the cardi. I quite like it but I think if I do add it I need to do a few more rows of modified Tunisian Knit stitch first. I will see how I feel when I’ve got a bit further. It would kind of ruin the lines of the original pattern, so maybe it’s something to save for a future Tunisian project. Not sure if you can see in the picture but it has grown a few rows since I last took a photo of it.
Now for the down, after the ups of learning pretty new stitches with pretty new yarn …
I have accidentally felted my pretty Perran Ripple Tee 😭
I put it in the washing machine on a 30 degree cycle thinking it would be fine, and it clearly wasn’t.
So let that be a lesson to you (and me) that even a cold wash in the washing machine may be too much for delicate beautiful hand-dyed yarn 😦
We live and learn! Won’t be making that mistake again will I?!
RIP Perran Ripple Tee, I am sorry I failed you.
In Jigsaw news I finished another one. I enjoyed the kind of meta vibe of doing a jigsaw of a jigsaw.

That’s beautiful.

Oh I missed this last week! Your bag looks great, what a good idea. Sorry about your felted tee – I’ve been there myself, and it’s a sad moment.
